Purple Lips (swatches)!

Purple is my favorite color so of course I love purple lips! When I first got into makeup the thought of wearing purple lipstick scared me, but it has definately grown on me! Right now I only have four purple lipsicks ranging from lavendar to deep violette and two lipglosses which are practically identical that go well on top of all the lipsticks. My Purple Lipsticks are Mac Lavender Whip (LE), Revlon Berry Haute (Mac Up The Amp dupe),Loreal Violet Vamp, and Mac Violetta (Pro/Venomous Villains). I own two lip liners both from Mac that go with all these lipstick, they are Magenta and Nightmoth. Out of laziness I only applied lipliner and lipgloss with Lavender Whip since that is the only one that absolutely needs it. If I were wearing these out I would atleast wear lipliner. Enjoy!

Lipliners I use with Purple Lipsticks:
Right to Left: Mac Magenta, Mac Nightmoth

Lip Swatches!:

Mac Lavender Whip alone                Lavender Whip with Nighmoth Lipliner and Funtabulous Dazzleglass

Revlon Berry Haute                                  Loreal Violet Vamp

Mac Violetta

I love all of these lipstick especially Berry Haute and Violetta! If you are considering trying Up the Amp but are unsure you should definately head to a drug store and pick up Berry Haute. The colors are almost identical. Also if you like Funtabulous Dazzleglass and don't want to spend the 18$ or just need a lipgloss for your purple lipsticks the Milani lipgloss is definately a great and cheaper alternative!

Hair Product Review: Curls Curl Creme Brule and Curls Goddess Curls

I got like 5 Target giftcards for Christmas at my job so I decided to get some hair products among other things. I decided on two products from the Curls line. These products are very reasonably priced and seem to have pretty good ingredients. The bottle says they are formualted with Certified Organic Ingrdients and contain no Sulfates, Silicones, Parabens, or Mineral or Petrolatum Oils.

The Products :
Creme Brule ($10.99): The Creme Brule is described as a , "cream styler used to define and moisturize curls without hold". It claims to defrizz and moisturize your hair leaving soft curls without hold. The directions say to apply to wet hair that has been washed and condiotioned by scrunching into sections than allowing it to air dry.

Ingredients: water, aloe barbadensis leaf juice, glycerin, helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, glycine soya (soybean) oil, ethylhexyl palmitate, glyceryl stearate, tocopherol, allantoin, certified organic butyrospermum parkii (shea butter), certified organic prunus amygdalus dulcis (sweet almond) oil, stearic acid, cetyl alcohol, sodium carbomer, potassium sorbate, fragrance, phenoxyethanol, caprylyl glycol

Goddess Curls($7.99): Goddess Curls is described as a"botanical curl gel to define, defrizz and hold curls". It claims to eliminate frizz and hold curls with out making your hair stiff or crunchy. The gel is also Alcohol and Protein free. The directions state to apply the gel to wet freshly washed and conditoned hair by scruching it in then allowing to airdry.

Ingredients:water, sorbitol, polyacrylate-14, polyquaternium-7, polysorbate 20, fruit certified organic mangifera indica (mango) seed butter, plumeria alba flower extract, biosaccharide gum-1, carbomer, certified organic butyrospermum parkii (shea butter), aloe barbadensis leaf juice, aminomethyl propanol, tetrasodium EDTA, phenoxyethanol, DMDM hydantoin

My Experience:  I used these products on my wet bun since I have not had time to style my hair this weekend, butI do plan on trying them with a wash and go and braidout in the future. I washed my hair with Shea MoistureRraw Shea Butter Moiature Retention Shampoo then conditioned for a couple hours with Lustrasilkk Olive Oil Conditoner and Extra Virgin Olive Oil. After that I Added the Creme Brule all over my hair in sections making sure to get all of it. The product spread easily, was very easy to apply, and smelled delicious! I then let my hair dry a little then brushed it back the Goddess Curls gel and secured it in a bun. The Goddess gel feels like any other gel but is on the thinner side and does not have much of a scent. It was pretty easy to slick my hair back with also. After that I put my scarf on my hair for the night so it could dry completely. After I removed my scarf the next morning I was pleasantly suprised! My hair was smooth and the gel had great hold but was not hard like Eco Styler, my bun was also very moisturized from the Creme Brulee.I am excited to use these together for a wash and go and will continue to use them for my buns!

Blue eyes and Nude lips FOTD!

I finally ventured from my usually and tried some colored eyeshadow! The only non nuetral eyeshadows I own are in the Beauties Factory 120 pallette off ebay I bought years ago and never really used. I plan on practicing more with this than buying some better quality colored eyeshadow. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! I also know I need to work more on my blending, but its a start!

Nars Exhibit A

I first heard about Exhibit A about 2 years ago when I first got interested in blush. Exhibit A was always mentioned as a must have blush for dark skin, but still I wasnt sure about it. After years of consideration I finally got it! I love Nars blushes and currently have Taos, Taj Mahal (loveee), and the Lovejoy Albatros duo. In the pan Exhibit A is a very bright shocking red, but when applied to the skin correctly it gives you a natural healthy flush. The blush is matte and blends very easily. Love it!

I am also wearing Mac Fresh Brew Lipstick which I am starting to love!

Kinky Curly Products- Wash and go + Fotd!

I fought the urge to straigten my hair and did a wash and go! I washed my hair using Kinky Curly's Come Clean Shampoo. I then saturated my hair with Kinky Curly Knot Today and Giovanni Direct Leave in. I would have only used the Knot Today but I didnt have enough of it. Giovanni works pretty well with the Kinky Curly products since it is natural also.  I then sectioned my hair and applied The Kinky Curly Curling Custard by smoothing it down my hair and racking it through some. I would have taken pictures of that but I did it in the shower since it is best to do it on soaking wet hair.

A little bit goes a long way with the Curling Custard, I think I used a little too much because my hair was a little crunchy, but over all I like the product and the fact that it has good ingredients. I also like the Knot Today leave in, but so much is needed so it can get a little pricey. I will have to stick to the Giovanni Leave in or find another alternative. I let my hair air dry for an hour or so, then I had to hurry and get dressed and didnt want wet hair so i dried it with the diffuser and concentration nozzle. I streched some areas with the concentration nozzle to try to fix the shape of my hair it dries funny.

This my hair wet with the products applied:

Here is a better view of my T-shirt, I love natural hair shirts and haddd to have this one!

This is how it turned out:

Hair Regime and Goals for 2011! (+ pics of wet bun)

So I think it is about time I come up with a hair regime. I have been just going with the flow for the past 12 months and I have gotten ok growth, but Id like to grow and retain more in the next 12 months. Im not really giving myself a time frame to meet goals right now, but I would eventually love to be waist length, right now i am grazing APL.One thing I know I need to do more of is deep conditioning. I do a lot of cowashing, but I don't deep condition nearly enough.I also have been straightening my hair way too much the last couple months or so, esp December. I guess it wasnt that much since I may have only straigtened it twice all spring and summer. Luckily I don't have any noticable heat damage. One of my goals is to start doing more natural styles like I did in the spring and summer, and to stop using straight hair as my go to style for special events. I think the cold is playing a big part in why I am opting for straight hair instead of wash and goes, puffs, twist, and braidouts. So far I plan on :

1. Cowashing every 2-3 days with V08, Herbal Essence Long Term Relationship, or Aussie Moist , leaving in a considerable amout of the conditioner, sealing with olive oil(or coconut once i get more), and wet bunning by slicking back with a little eco styler. This will be my hair style during the work week.
Here are a couple pictures of my everyday wet bun:

I can't wait until it is bigger and I can do a cut high bun!

2.On weekends if I am going out I will either wash and go with Knot Today or Giovanni Direct Leave In with Kinky Curly Custard or Wash and Condition then Lightly blowdry and do do a braid out.

3. I will deep condition atleast once a week, probably Friday nights. I am not sure what I will be using yet, I will probably do a lot of experimenting. I do like Hollywood Beauty Olive Cholesterol. It is cheap and works well with my hair.

4. I also want to revist twist agian, and will probably do them agian sometime in the spring.

I hope to do a lot of experimenting with products and natural styles instead of boring straight hair lol so I should have a lot to post!

Lace, Leapord Print, and Ruby Woo!

I'm a day late, but Happy New Year! I am so upset with myself because I planned on posting pics of my New Years Eve hair, outfit, and make up, but of course something went wrong. Somehow my camera turned on in my bag and my battery died before we even made it to the lounge :(. I didnt get one picture from that night. I did however take pictures of my outfit after, but my hair and makeup were ruined by that point lol so i couldnt get a picture of the whole look. My hair was straight with pin curls and I kept my makeup pretty simple and wore Ruby Woo the best red lipstick everrr.

I loveee these shoes. I have wanted leapord print shoes since forever and i finally found some I like! They are as comforatable as they can be for 5 1/4 inches.

Here is a swatch of Ruby Woo :

I paired it with Brick Lipliner also from Mac. Ruby Woo is a very vibrant matte retro red. This lipstick is very drying because it is so matte but I love it!
